POSITION TITLE: Staff Therapist

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Counseling Services

GENERAL DESCRPTION:
A staff therapist provides individual, group, couple and family counseling/ psychotherapy and psycho educational services. He/she participates as a clinical staff member in twice monthly staff meetings, attends and participates in biweekly clinical case conferences, performs necessary administrative tasks, and helps market the services and mission of the Center.

Professional Services

1. Provides counseling, education and/or consultation for individuals, couples, families and groups.

2. Maintains clinical records in keeping with CCCG’s policies and procedures.

3. Works with the administrative staff to set and collect appropriate fees.

4. Follows the policies and procedures of CCCG Clinical Participation.

Clinical Participation

1. Works cooperatively with staff colleagues, consultants, and referring professionals.

2. Actively participates in clinical case conferences.

3. Attends administrative staff meetings, staff retreats and other activities, and is willing to serve on committees and/or task forces that enhance the quality and teamwork of CCCG.

4. Participates in periodic continuing education programs sponsored by CCCG.

5. Subscribes to and follows the Code of Ethics of AAPC and/or the Code of Ethics of his/her particular discipline.

Center Administration and Development

1. Participates in the development of CCCG’s referral network.

2. Performs administrative and development tasks as assigned.

3. Participates in CCCG’s education, consultation, and community activities.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited university with a masters or doctoral degree in pastoral counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or equivalent Clinical training and experience Licensing by the state of Georgia as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, Psychologist or Psychiatrist
  • Ability to integrate religious commitment and therapy in practice
    Evidence of personal therapy in order to work freely with clients and to protect them from the therapist’s own issues.
  • Ability to help clients deal with theological issues utilizing religious resources with their own belief system
  • Understanding the dynamics of religious experience and implications for personal psycho-therapy
  • Ability to work effectively with religious leaders, congregations, and other community sponsors and resource persons
  • Ability and willingness to develop and cultivate a part-time or larger caseload (minimum of 10 hours per week) by representing CCCG in the community and relating to referral sources
  • Ability to use the language and methodology of differential diagnosis and familiarity with the contributions of various psychological approaches including ability to appropriately refer clients to other medical/psychiatric/psychological or spiritual resources in the community
